My year in GRi11 2.0 to future self

Dear future Dorothy,
Come on, Dorothy, get off your i phone 50! although the thing is that you have never been a ‘texting girl’ so that should be no trouble at all, you off yet? good, now let’s start the story….

2016 was a blast! having Mr R and Miss G was AWESOME!!!!!! definitely the COOLEST class in the senior syndicate OR, if you want to be really specific the coolest class in the SCHOOL.

You learnt on google drive and google classroom, wow the are SO old now! I can’t believe that we learned on that…….. stuff!

Do you remember camp? The mud run? The tramps? The glow worm cave? WELL DO YOU!!!!!!!!! camp was also a blast both 2015 and 2016. In 2015 you went to ‘Green Pastures camp’ your favourite part was the mud run!. Also you loved all the other tasks, there was the cooking, archery, you had to make a raft, you went kayaking AND you shot a gun at a target! it was VERY fun!!

2016 camp (Sixtus lodge) was also VERY fun. Your favourite task was the first tramp and the glow worm cave. The other tasks were another tramp, horse riding a challenge course, you made slingshots you did art you learnt first aid you got dragged along on a skateboard, and there was a super challenge. On the way to camp you vomited in the car but you made a joke of it and you got over it. On the way back from camp when you went past he glow worm cave you yelled “babye shiny butts!” everyone in the car (Amber, Kristy, Ella and Amber’s Dad) started cracking up and from then on the drive back was enjoyable AND even better then that, you didn’t vomit!

Do you remember how fun it was with mr R and miss G all the dancing and all the games that we played they were so fun.

Thank you mr R and miss G for making my last year at college street a memorable one. If you were not my teachers 2016 would not have been nearly as fun.

Well, future Dorothy, I hope you remember college street for the rest of your life. Thank you for listening future Dorothy.

Kind regards,

Child version of Dorothy.

Cinderella and Rockerfella.

This year at College Street Normal School we performed a production called  Cinderella and Rockerfella.

It is the same story as Cinderella, but prince charming is rockerfella and rockerfella is a rock star.

Also their are some characters added to the story: buttons (Cinder's best friend) Fairy nasty boots (the bad fairy) the fairy brigade ( a group of good fairies) danny denny (Rocky's manager) and Rockerfella ( prince charming and a rock star)

The characters that are not added to the story are: Cinderella, the ugly sisters, and the fairy godmother.

My role in the production is... one of the fairies in the fairy brigade!

The fairies in the fairy brigade have funny names: fairy nuff, fairy dust, fairy bread, fairy lights, fairy tale, and the inter - islander fairy
my name was... fairy dust!

Because I got a lead role I had to go to lots and lots and LOTS of rehearsals.

I loved performing the production!

An unexpected start to the day.

On Tuesday 10th of May 2016, my class arrived at school just like on a normal school day.

When I got a clear view of the classroom, I knew that this was NOT going to be a normal day!

The classroom looked totally different. The desks were in rows, there were chalkboards, text books, name tags stuck on the desks, and we had to sit boy, girl, boy, girl. The teachers were dressed in strange clothes, well, strange clothes to us. It was just like old fashioned school!

Learning wasn't even learning, all we had to do was copy things out of text books!

I think the worst part was morning tea. Firstly, we could only choose one thing from our lunch box, and the teachers would tell us when to bite and when to chew.

Once we had finished our food, we had to march around the quad, and when we could actually play, the teachers told us what to play, who to play with and what to play.

when the whole thing was over, I was so relieved that I didn't get a smack on the bum!

My holiday surprise.

"Dorothy, come down right now!!" yelled mum.
I would have liked to stay in my room to finish making my bed and putting some clothes away, (don't think I'm weird because I like tidying my room) but I knew I had to do as mum said.
I strolled down the golden stairs to see mum. I did think that I was going to get in to trouble, but as I walked into the kitchen, expecting to be yelled at, it turned out that mum had a huge smile on her face.
" I just got a call from the Lido, ( I normally have swimming lessons in the holidays) they said that you moved up into Bronze! As soon as I heard this, I did a happy dance. I couldn't believe that I had actually moved up into bronze.
"Do you know what that means Dorothy?" asked mum.
"No" I replied with confusion with a little frown on my face.
"Now you can finally swim to the end of the pool!" cried mum with excitement.
On the second week of the holidays I started swimming on bronze.
It was so tiring but then mum reminded me that the first days of bronze were always hard so I keeped on going until Friday.

The school Disco

"Mum we are almost there" I said excitedly in the car, mum was taking me to my first ever school disco. At the school disco there is always a theme:
This time the theme was... 'Your Favorite Rock Star'. I don't have a favorite rock star, so I just dressed up as some crazy person. I dressed in a pinky orange sparkly dress, black shiny leggings and sparkly shoes. As mum pulled over to park, one of my best friends, Holly G, and her friend Alex L, were walking to the disco. Holly saw me and waited for me to get out of the car. Once we got to the hall I was ready for 1 hour of party rocking. I danced my socks off (even though I wasn't wearing any socks) and I sertanly blew of mr. R's socks because I won a bag of lollies. By the end of the disco I was so tired and I can't wait for the next school disco.

Over coming my fear of deep water.

I had made the inter school triathlon team for C.S.N.S. I was very nervous to compete as I am not confident at swimming. However, I can run and bike like the wind so with some encouragement I decided to give it a go.

BOOM! I splashed into the Freyberg pool, I was finally on the last stage of the triathlon. As my head went under the water, I got a bit of a shock. The water was so deep and I am kind of scared of really deep water.

By the third lap I was out of fuel but then I heard one of my best friends, Holly, yell "GO DOROTHY!!!". As soon as I heard this, I powered to the end of the race as fast as my legs could take me.

When I left the pool I felt like I had let the team down, because by the end of the run I was in the top 10, by the end of the bike I was in 15th place and over all I came 35.

Sad and unhappy I left the pool, I had never felt so bad in my life. Tears rolled down my rosey red cheeks.

Holly rushed over to see me. She  saw that I was sad so she comforted me. She gave me a big crunchy chocolate bar, and a piece of bubble gum.

But no matter how hard everyone tried, nothing, and no one was going cheer me up, even Holly.

Eventually, after a few weeks, I felt proud that I had done it. I now want to take more risks and do things that scare me.
