I had made the inter school triathlon team for C.S.N.S. I was very nervous to compete as I am not confident at swimming. However, I can run and bike like the wind so with some encouragement I decided to give it a go.
BOOM! I splashed into the Freyberg pool, I was finally on the last stage of the triathlon. As my head went under the water, I got a bit of a shock. The water was so deep and I am kind of scared of really deep water.
By the third lap I was out of fuel but then I heard one of my best friends, Holly, yell "GO DOROTHY!!!". As soon as I heard this, I powered to the end of the race as fast as my legs could take me.
When I left the pool I felt like I had let the team down, because by the end of the run I was in the top 10, by the end of the bike I was in 15th place and over all I came 35.
Sad and unhappy I left the pool, I had never felt so bad in my life. Tears rolled down my rosey red cheeks.
Holly rushed over to see me. She saw that I was sad so she comforted me. She gave me a big crunchy chocolate bar, and a piece of bubble gum.
But no matter how hard everyone tried, nothing, and no one was going cheer me up, even Holly.
Eventually, after a few weeks, I felt proud that I had done it. I now want to take more risks and do things that scare me.

Dorothy you should be so proud of what you achieved! This is an amazing, honest piece of writing that really captures how you felt. Way to Go for wanting to keep challenging yourself.
